The WBC thinks that counter-protests against them are attacks on Christianity too. Many of us who think the WBC are scumbags (which is what brought me to your blog in the first place) think that Family Life isn't much better. So if we boycott a restaurant who supports them, it's not anti-Christian -- it's anti-hate.

Lori, Thanks for posting this and helping homeschool families know what they can and cannot deduct on the tax returns.

I'll keep readers informed if any tax breaks for homeschooling expenses come up in the future (But I'm not holding ny breath!)

I sent her, and many other gov reps, an email after Rep. Gifford's shooting vowing to add our gov workers to our family prayer bulletin board. Others emailed nice, short responses acknowledging having read the email and thanking us for the prayers. What I received from Claire McCaskill looked like a pat, standard form letter/email for the masses and left me feeling like she hadn't even read our email. It was nothing like what I received from the others...including other Dems. I am just hoping this was not actually sent by her, but from an aide. Oh well, just gives me something else to pray for her about.

The HSUS has put $2,000,000 into this campaign. We already have laws on the books to address this issue. They just need to be enforced. Passing more laws isn't going to help.

I read the Proposed petition but do not see the evidence that this is a big step as part of an extremist animal rights/liberation agenda that threatens all animal agriculture, here in Missouri, and it is sponsored by an overwhelmingly wealthy organization steeped in deception. http://www.sos.mo.gov/elect...

Amy, there are plenty of cities in MO that don't have an earnings tax and still have police and fire services. Telling everyone that they'll have to cut these services if the tax is prohibited is nothing but a scare tactic.

KC is losing money by having this tax. The company I worked for moved and intentionally stayed out of KC city limits due to the earnings tax. I live a stone's throw away from KC, and we intentionally stayed out of KC when we chose our home due to the earnings tax. KC would have more citizens and businesses if it weren't for this tax.

Our personal income was cut by 45% over a year ago, so telling me that it's 40% of the city budget doesn't gain any sympathy from me.

I'm really getting sick of hearing about the bad, bad, wealthy people. I don't see any "poor" people running businesses and employing people.

Amy, it is called SALES TAX, and I for one am tired of bailing out cities. Screw KC and St Louis. I moved out of the city to escape those morans who can't balance a budget and want to spend, spend, spend. It is MY paycheck. Keep your perverted, greedy hands out of my paycheck. People who work in those cities also buy things and pay sales tax, enough to pay their fair share for police and fire services, why should we also have to pay for other's free ride, schools, parks, library, social programs and pet projects. Fund your own crap.

Lori--if you oppose the earnings tax, how will you pay for police, fire and city services in KC? The earnings tax is fair--it's paid by individuals and companies that earn their money in KC. It's 40% of the city budget.

You should know that this is backed by a billionaire who believes we should raise sales, land and property taxes instead. The average working family will pay much more in sales and property taxes while wealthy people and companies rely on us to pay the infrastructure for their business. Be wary of special-interest ballot initiatives!

I don't have a clothesline but I would love to.
Currently I live with my boyfriend (and his sister that owns the house) I don't think she would want a clothesline. I hope we can get our own home.

I grew up having wash hung on the line. Not one of my favorite jobs, but it was a summer chore that needed to be done. It was about saving money on not running the dryer, nothing to do with global warming. The idea that other people can control someone from hanging their wash is outrageous. Our house is supposed be OUR HOME, not a museum, and if the wash is in the backyard, who cares? Sigh...

Obama’s stealing the census from Congress has suddenly awakened and enraged the Republicans. Maybe this will arouse them as well to challenge Obama for stealing the Presidency itself. They surely know he is not an Article 2 “natural born citizen” (which is more than merely being a 14th Amendment “citizen”) by virtue of either Obama’s birth to a dad of Kenyan/British citizenship or birth in Kenya itself — as manifested by his unwillingness to supply his long form birth certificate now under seal.
